Lapuan Kankurit at Scandihome

I may be biased (in fact I know that I am), but there’s something about the quality of Finnish (and more broadly speaking Nordic/Scandinavian) products that is just extraordinary. One reason might be that many Nordic brands have a history going back decades, if not centuries. It takes time to fine tune a product and these companies have done just that. Take Lapuan Kankurit, for example; a Finnish textile company with roots going back 100 years. They are well-known for their amazing textiles, including sauna towels, bed linen, aprons and much more. From impeccable packaging to the best quality linen I’ve ever come across with, Lapuan Kankurit has every detail tuned to perfection.

This beautiful Maija blanket is designed by Lapuan Kankurit and made in Finland (!) It’s become an instant favourite of ours and one that we will treasure for years to come.  I couldn’t think of anything more comforting than a soft blanket and sunshine on a day that I’m recovering from a cold.

Lapuan Kankurit kindly gifted me this product along with a couple of others, so stay tuned for more posts soon!

New Office Space with BEdesign

I can’t think of anything more inspiring than a successful business run by young entrepreneurs. Having grown up in a family of businesses, I have the utmost respect for those who have the courage to believe in their dreams and make them a reality. Hence I was deeply impressed to discover a Finnish brand BEdesign. Run by sisters Bette and Cilla, BEdesign is all about high quality, functional design. The sisters started the company in 2012 and have expanded their product selection steadily ever since. Bette is responsibly for the product design, whilst Cilla looks after the business development.

These Lume trestle legs from BEdesign are possibly the most versatile piece of furniture in my entire home. I have had many makeshift offices in the past and often move my desk around our home depending on different projects. Nothing better than a desk you can pack up or move around as you please! As a big bonus, all BEdesign products are made in Finland!

I’m in love with my new desk and once we get the flooring sorted, the office space will be my favourite spot in the house. Stay tuned!

The trestle legs were kindly sent to me as gift by BEdesign. As always, all opinions are my own! Take a look at the rest of their beautiful product selection here.

Taking A Moment

It’s Friday afternoon and I’m spending some time catching up on emails, doing household chores and planning the weekend. Weeks are literally flying past, so I’m pausing for a moment, just to enjoy a cup of tea and flip through a magazine. Have a good one!

The beautiful Stelton tea pot and pitcher were sent to me as a gift with no strings attached. I love them both and if you would like to know more, please visit Stelton website.

New Perfume Oils from Skandinavisk

It’s no secret I love everything from Skandinavisk. I honestly could not pick my favourite candle from their extensive range, they are all incredibly beautiful! I have talked about their new hand care range earlier, here, and now the perfume oils are the latest addition to the collection. I must admit I am extremely picky when it comes to perfumes and I tend to stick to just one I find suitable. I have loved the HEIA candle from the Escapes Collection, and always thought the scent would make an amazing perfume. Now, the HEIA perfume oil has become my new favourite. Its subtle scent lasts really well, and the rollerball packaging makes it perfectly portable. Most importantly, the scent reminds me of home and sometimes that is the perfect escape during a busy day.

Thank you, Skandinavisk, for this beautiful gift. As always, the opinions are my own.

Tangent GC

We’ve had a hot and dry summer here in Sydney and the temperatures are still in their high 20’s. Although I try to look after my skin, the harsh climate does make it extra challenging. Needless to say, good skincare is essential throughout the year. I love discovering new skincare brands and it’s always a bonus if they are organic as well. Enter Tangent GC – a Swedish brand that focuses on organic skincare products, but also holistic garment care (from shoe brushes to laundry detergents). Beautiful, minimalist packaging and high quality product makes this brand stand out and has quickly become one of my daily favourites. As the name suggest, the Tulip range smells like a big bunch of tulips – and I can’t think of anything better!

These products were sent to me as a gift, but as always, all opinions are my own.

Nedre Foss

I discovered the Norwegian design company Nedre Foss a couple years ago and have loved their designs since. The notion of “The Century Object”, an object that will serve you for at least a hundred years, is in the core of the company and sits very well with my decorating philosophy as well. It also happens that the majestic cast iron candle holders “Ildhane” and “Glo” are designed by my favourite Norwegian designers Andersen & Voll. There’s something about cast iron that I love as a material. The heaviness makes it feel like a substantial object and fits any decorating style perfectly.

Sirkel” tealight holder is made from solid coloured glass. The intensity of the colour changes with the thickness of the glass. I love the way light shines through these tealight holders; they are beautiful on their own or grouped together. The colours are gorgeous and intense, something you can only achieve with a solid coloured glass.

Now that the days are getting shorter here in Sydney, I know I’ll be enjoying these candle holders every night. Thank you Nedre Foss for sending me these gifts. All opinions, as always, are my own.

Introducing Gejst

Fridays tend to be super busy. I always take on too many projects and ambitiously think I can finish them all. From catching up on emails to chores at home, sneaking in a long overdue hair appointment or a quick coffee date with a friend, it all happens on Fridays. Even though I like to think I’m an organised person (those who know me might or might not agree), things do go missing (the keys, the phone, my daughter’s hair elastics). For a while I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect storage system that would host the most important of daily essentials. Most of the storage options I’ve found have been way too bulky or just not right for our apartment, so when I came across the Flex system by a Danish brand Gejst, I immediately knew it would work.

Flex is a multi functional storage shelf with fully interchangeable components. The stylish timber hides an extremely powerful magnet that allows the elements to be placed just where you want them. You can choose from a variety of elements to compose a storage system that is perfect for you. I love how versatile the shelf is; I can see it working in any room of our apartment.

Hope your Friday will be a little smoother than mine – and have a great weekend!

The Flex was sent to me as a gift by Gejst. All opinions are my own.
