Let’s talk about sleep – or rather the lack of it…It’s no secret having kids tends to change your sleeping patterns – usually for worse. In my case, having a solid nights sleep is a very rare occasion.
I first started looking into the importance of sleep during my Health Coach days and found out there are quite a few things you can do to try and get a better nights sleep.
Keeping your bedroom calm in terms of colours and decorations might help, and I would highly recommend leaving the phone in another room altogether!
Opt for natural bedding materials as much as possible. Organic cotton and pure linen are great options.
Finally – and most importantly – invest in a good mattress. This is actually something I overlooked for a number of years. Tossing our old mattress felt like such a waste, even though I knew it probably wasn’t helping my back problems and restless sleep. It wasn’t until I came across The Natural Bedding Company that I was convinced that there were much better options available!

Needless to say I slept like a baby in my new bed, only to be awaken by laughing kookaburras at sunrise.
PS. We ended up giving our mattress away for free and hopefully extending its lifetime by a few more years. My other option would have been to organise a collection with Softlanding, where they would have been able to recycle most of the mattress.
